Prime Minister Dr Edouard Ngirente has told dignitaries and delegates at the 4th United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi that the Kigali Amendment of the Montreal Protocol is meant to help in dealing with Climate Change and its consequences.
The Assembly is bringing together
Environmental Experts, Researchers and others in Kenya; as well as different
Heads of State and Government and Investors from around the world.
Rwanda's Prime Minister, who was representing the country's Head of State at the gathering, conveyed President's Paul Kagame's message and also thanked the 69 countries that have so far ratified the Kigali Amendment of the Montreal Protocol.
The Kigali Amendment of
the Montreal Protocol
seeks to cut the production and consumption of hydro-chlorofluorocarbons or HFCs
by more than 80 percent over the next 30 years.
Also present was France's President, H.E Emmanuel Macron and he noted that because Africa is greatly affected by Climate Change and its consequences, the Continent must take measures to address it.
Hosting the event, Kenya's President observed that Climate Change is global phenomena that requires the entire world to join efforts in addressing.
