The Parliamentary Committee on the Economy and Trade, has asked the government to allocate more funds to the Agricultural Sector, owing to the fact that the sector employs about 70% of Rwandans.
During
the 2018/2019 Fiscal Year, less than 3% of all Loans issued by Financial
Institutions went to the Agricultural Sector, yet it contributed 29% of the
country's GDP that year.
The sector got just 13.3% of all long term loans issued by the Rwanda Development Bank, 3rd after Infrastructure and Energy that got 59 and 16.1% respectively.
Such figures have raised concerns among Parliamentarians.
