A group of 23 military soldiers from the Netherlands from different military bases in Africa are visiting Rwanda on a study tour.
These peacekeepers told reporters, earlier today, that if the United Nations Peace keepers who were in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi put in effort to protect the peace and security of the people, millions of people wouldn’t have lost their lives.
This was said during their visit to the Belgian memorial site where ten Belgian soldiers, who were in charge of the then Rwanda Prime Minister, Agathe Uwilingiyimana, were killed.
They paid their respects and laid a wreath on the fallen soldiers, they were then explained to how the genocide against the Tutsi was carried out.
This group of soldiers was led by the Belgium ambassador
in Rwanda Benoit Ryelandt and the Netherlands Ambassador in Rwanda Matthijs
Wotters who says that what happened to Rwandans should never happen again.
