Security Minister Gen. Nyamvumba challenges youth on patriotism and sacrifice

The minister for internal security Gen Patrick Nyamvumba has urged Rwanda youth to love their country and be ready to sacrifice themselves for it.  He mentioned this during the fourth Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing congress. 

These are 1500 Youth Volunteers in Community Policing from across the country who represent a bigger number of 360 thousand. During the 4th congress of the Rwanda youth volunteers in community policing, minister for internal security Gen Patrick Nyamvumba called on the youth present to have values that the former youth liberation leaders had. 

GEN Nyamvumba said; ’’ through sacrifice we have those who lost their lives so that we could live and be where we are today.so this should be a good example to you and everyone on the love for the country and the sacrifices one can make,” 

The minister of state in the ministry of youth Edouard Bamporiki explained the importance of loving the country even as the youth. 

Across section of the youth present say that they have been brought up to love the country and it shows in their day to day lives. 

Epiphanie Mutuyimana, from Gisagara district, said,'' No one will come from far and plant the kitchen gardens and fight malnutrition. It is our duty to do so,”

''We grew up seeing our parents who loved their country and were loyal to it, so we must follow in their footsteps and grow with it,” Erick Mushimiyimana, from Nyarugenge district added.

The minister for local government Prof Shyaka Anastase reminded the youth of the values of loving a country. 

''We should have strong Rwandans, an able Rwandan but one who is also willing. These are pillars of where we want to go that should be instilled in us one that loves the country and works for the development of the country,” Minister Shyaka said. 

Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing congress was started in 2013 and started working closely with the police in 2015. They aim to have the number grow to over a million youth.
